Asia–Middle East: Maersk Announces FM1 Relaunch via Qingdao and Ningbo

Event: 2026-10-13

The October 13 advisory lists Qingdao–Ningbo–Tanjung Pelepas–Khor Fakkan connectivity; existing booking restrictions and cargo-acceptance rules continue to apply.

Maersk announced on October 13 that it and Hapag-Lloyd would relaunch the FM1 service on the Gemini network. The published rotation is Qingdao–Ningbo–Tanjung Pelepas–Khor Fakkan–Singapore–Qingdao.

The advisory scheduled the first sailing to leave Qingdao on October 17 and reach Khor Fakkan on November 16. Those are announced schedule dates; this article does not confirm actual departure or arrival.

Maersk states that existing booking restrictions and cargo-acceptance guidelines remain in force, with service changes subject to regional security developments.

Relevance to our products — editorial assessment: the route is relevant to Shandong-origin chemical export planning, including allyl chloride and dichloropropane products. Relaunching the service does not by itself confirm acceptance or space for any particular dangerous-goods shipment.

Possible Market Impact: Next 1–3 Months

Outlook for the next 1–3 months: China and the United Arab Emirates — renewed connectivity through Qingdao and Ningbo may improve routing options for chemical exports to Khor Fakkan. Actual capacity and dangerous-goods acceptance must still be confirmed for each product and shipment.

Other Gulf markets — onward delivery may still face port-specific delays or inland-transfer requirements. If the service operates consistently, delivery uncertainty may ease; renewed disruption could offset that benefit. The announcement alone does not establish lower freight rates.
